July 2nd 2019 – Utah Office of Tourism – What’s New in Utah: Hiking with Llamas, Grain Silo Speakeasy, Auberge Resort Opens

July 1, 2019 by canuckiwiadministrator

Hiking in Utah is a Whole Llama Fun!

Guests of Capitol Reef Resort in Torrey, UT, located adjacent to Capitol Reef National Park, can experience the backcountry from a new point of view alongside their very own llama provided by Wilderness Ridge Trail Llamas. Whether a beginner or experienced adventurer, Capitol Reef Resort offers llama excursions for everyone at every level. Options range from day hikes to overnight camping trips to custom excursions. Each trek offers support from seasoned pack llamas to carry gear and food as hikers traverse some of Utah’s most beautiful landscapes. In line with such a unique experience, Capitol Reef Resort offers conestoga wagons, teepees and well-appointed cabins to hikers needing overnight accommodation. https://capitolreefresort.com/llama-adventures/

Grain Silo Speakeasy

The Grist Mill Inn Bed and Breakfast in Monticello, UT has opened a restaurant and speakeasy called The Granary – located in two granary silos on property – giving literal meaning to the distilled libations served inside. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, The Granary is open until 1:00 a.m. as a 1920s prohibition speakeasy-style bar and grill. During the day, don’t miss a casual, but varied menu ranging from classic breakfast fare to sushi to the Triple Bypass Bacon Burger and Red Fries. The Granary seats 50 guests inside and 24 on the patio during the summer months. http://www.thegristmillinn.com

The Lodge at Blue Sky Opens in Park City

The Auberge Resorts Collection has opened The Lodge at Blue Sky, 20 min. east of Park City, UT. A true Western getaway on a private 3,500-acre ranch in the Wasatch Mountain Range, the luxury property includes 46 rooms and suites and amenities befitting an all-season resort. From horseback riding on miles of private trails and fly fishing on private waters, as well as shooting the 18-stand sporting clay course, guests have myriad unique experiences. In winter, guests can cross-country ski on groomed trails and take in backcountry, cat and heli-skiing directly on the estate. Guests headed to Park City Mountain Resort will have use of the exclusive Blue Sky Ski Lounge conveniently located at the base of the mountain. https://aubergeresorts.com/bluesky/

Natural History Museum Celebrates Old and New

The Natural History Museum of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT is celebrating its 50th year in 2019. An architectural icon in the city and a case study in green design, the museum is the number one attraction in Salt Lake County. The dinosaur exhibit in the museum’s Past World’s gallery remains a top draw for visitors and is filled with species that are new to science that have been discovered in Utah in recent years. The museum’s mobile guide, Trailhead to Utah, enables visitors to find new ways to explore the museum with audio recordings and interactive illustrations, and extend their adventures into the natural world throughout the state with over 70 recommended stops. https://nhmu.utah.edu/
