Karen has worked in the international travel industry for over 20 years. Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, and formerly of Discover Holidays, Adventure World New Zealand and House of Travel, she brings a wealth of experience in the Australia and New Zealand industry. Her past experiences managing the product for the largest ($650 Million) retail outlet in the New Zealand marketplace, is an amazing asset to the Canuckiwi team. She emphasizes the importance of mutually beneficial partnerships that ensures return on investment is consistently tracked for each project whether being cooperative marketing with travel trade or media relations.
Karen along with her husband and business partner Corey Marshall established Canuckiwi Ltd, a representation and consulting firm for the travel and tourism industry. Canuckiwi specialises in tourism and travel trade marketing, consumer advertising and PR strategies for suppliers and destination marketing organizations worldwide. The unique skill sets and background the team members represent gives clients extensive access to strong relationships with in-market tour operators, travel trade media, digital influencers, airlines, and other stakeholders across Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Canuckiwi’s current clients include Travel Oregon, Utah Office of Tourism, Travel Nevada, Discover New England, Visit Anchorage, Destination D.C and Grapevine, Texas.
Karen began in the industry at 18 years old, working at a retail travel agency in New Zealand and not a day has gone by that she has not thoroughly enjoyed and been grateful for the dynamic nature of what she does and what the industry offers. From creating itineraries, product development and marketing travel to either the individual traveller or to a group, it is always a challenge and exciting to inspire clients with what is on offer.
The travel and tourism Industry is one of the biggest parts of Karen’s life and she is thankful that she has been able to be part of this exciting industry where her passion lies while raising a family. She is also excited to see her oldest daughter which has lived and breathed the industry her whole life thriving in the industry in her own right.
