On Wednesday, 24 August 2016, the eve of the centennial of the National Park Service in the U.S, President Obama established the Katahdin Woods and Waters area in Northern Maine, as a National Monument. Sail Boston 2017 will be the only US Stop in Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta
Boston, Massachusetts, is an official port of the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta from 17-22 June 2017 and will be the only US stop. The trans-Atlantic regatta will start in Royal Greenwich, UK. From there the fleet will race to Sines, Portugal, followed by Bermuda. The fleet will then race to Boston, for Sail Boston 2017®. Food Network winner opens new Chocolate Factory and Cafe in New Hampshire
She earned national acclaim after winning the Food Network’s Sweet Genius series and now pastry chef and chocolatier Neely Cohen has opened a chocolatier bringing her passion, experience and expertise to her hometown of Peterborough, New Hampshire. Vicuña Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory and cafe serving handcrafted chocolate bars and pastries. Alchemist Brewery’s newest Vermont location opens in Stowe
The Alchemist is a family run brewing company specializing in fresh, unfiltered IPA, and in July 2016, owners John and Jen Kimmich opened their second location in Stowe, Vermont. The Alchemist currently operates two breweries in Vermont, the first location Waterbury, and handles all local distribution. Lighthouse Exhibit to open at Maine Maritime Museum in Summer 2017
Construction has begun at Maine Maritime Museum on a new gallery space that will house an immersive lighthouse exhibit, Into the Lantern: A Lighthouse Experience. Whydah Pirate Museum opens in Massachusetts
Whydah Pirate Museum is a new 12,000-square foot Museum in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, and it exhibits the world’s only authenticated pirate treasure ever discovered. The museum is an attraction for all ages where visitors touch, see and interact with exhibits including pirate treasure discovered in 1984 off the coast of Wellfleet by renowned explorer Barry Clifford of Cape Cod. After touring the United States for ten years, the treasure is being permanently displayed at the Museum. The Whydah was a fully rigged galley ship built by the British to travel between Africa, the Caribbean and Great Britain. During one of its voyages in 1717, it was captured by the famed pirate Samuel “Black Sam” Bellamy.
