Normally February of each year sees a delegation from Travel Oregon make their way North of the border to visit with Canadian media in key Oregon markets. Unfortunately Covid19 made sure of the fact that in February of 2021 borders were kept closed between Canada and the USA and this visit could not happen… in person.
Not only is February 14th Valentine’s Day but also Oregon’s birthday. We couldn’t think of a better time to release our invite to our key Canadian media on an Oregon Scavenger Hung along the Oregon coast culminating in a virtual media event in March. Oregon is blessed with a wealth of natural riches – mountains, forests, waterfalls, hot springs, beaches and the Pacific Ocean. These natural riches create wellness, healing and connection when they are visited.
Each week between the 14th of February and March 23rd, attendees were sent a short video clue leading them on a virtual “treasure hunt” along the Oregon Coast. On March 23 they then clicked on their final clue (a Zoom Link) which transported them from their home to be live on location with Denny Dyke who creates “dreamfields” of labyrinths at Face Rock State Park in Bandon, Oregon. Denny and his team create 43 sand labyrinths over the Spring & Summer period on a completely volunteer basis. The imagery from above it creates is spectacular.
Our media were sent in advance their very own special Oregon gift so they could create their own sand labyrinth at home. Copies of clues as well as event images and images of Denny’s work can be seen below.
